December 25 Fishing report

Warm currents sitting wider off Sydney are stirring things up nicely — and we can’t wait to see what surprises this season brings!

Offshore fishing has kicked into gear with early signs of striped marlin and mahi-mahi, and bait is holding thick around the Shelf and the Botany Wide FAD. In the shallows of Botany Bay, XL flathead are active, while the beaches are producing quality summer bream and whiting. With water temps now around 21°C, beach and rock fishing have both improved, and many locations are reporting consistent catches of salmon and tailor.

  • Browns Mountain is producing blue-eye cod, mirror dory and gemfish.
